I have a home cinema amp in a room with a wireless network signal but need an RJ45 connection to my amp to network it (Arcam AVR 600) I dont want to run a cable from the router as it is a long way away and a difficult cable run. I am using a homeplug system to get the wireless network in the Cinema room ( for my Playstation) but it doesnt have an RJ45 cable output, it just boosts the wireless network. Does anyone make a device to receive a wireless signal and convert it to a cable output?I hope this isnt a stupid question.

Click to expand.Not quite correct. In fact the wrong way round. A Wireless Access point takes an Ethernet connection and provides a downstream WiFi service.To provide an Ethernet port from a WiFi service you need a Wireless Bridge.

So that is what you want NOT an Access PointHaving said that, some Access Points can work the other way around in 'Bridge Mode' and so before you buy the suggested box, you need to check that it supports Bridge Mode and and how it does it. (You don't want to spend hours trying to figure it out which you may have to do because it is not is usual way of working.)However I would just use another Homeplug with an Ethernet port. You could feed an Ethernet Switch from it and thus support both the Playstation and the Amp. The problem is probably already solved but this information can be useful to others who are searching for a similar solution. Sure a WIFI bridge would work, but don't forget to first configure and secure it by firstly linking it to a pc or laptop and access the setup page via a browser (eg. MAC filtering.)Another solution which is a lot simpler and I think a bit cheaper is to buy a universal WiFi internet adapter.

Convert Rj45 To Wifi

This is like a USB WiFi stick as delivered by many wireless routers. But instead of a WiFi to USB adapter, it has a UTP/ethernet socket.

You just connect it to a power socket for power, and you connect your HDTV, Tivo, Xbox, PC. To the dongle via a ethernet cable. Log the dongle onto your wireless network and it works.You can find some info here.
