I have an Epson Perfection V33 running with Ubuntu 14.04 and Debian 8.3. This is just a flat-bed single-sheet hand-fed scanner. I did have to download and install a driver fromThis installs something called Image Scan for Linux. My scanner works acceptably while controlling it with Image Scan, but the buttons on the scanner do not work.

I have not found this to be a problem.I cannot get the scanner to work with xsane under Debian, which reports no devices found (haven't tried xsane under Ubuntu).There might be drivers for other Epsons at this location or a few links up.
