There's a trick I found out about, its like tricking the steam cloud, see I couldn't get my laptop save file on my all in once pc through the cloud. Well this is what I did, I went in game with the steam cloud turned off. Keep the game on, then turn on the cloud, dont turn off FF13, when you go to save it should show your steam saves instead of your hardrive saves. If you save it then it'll add whatever hardrive game you're playing to steam cloud.

If it doesn't work out, turn off steam cloud and you're other files should be back. I use this to back up both steam and hardrive files to both pcs.

Its not full proof, and it could potentially delete back up hardrive saves, but you'll at least get to save whatever save file you save while the cloud is active. This guy literally tells OP where to find the steam cloud save files, and OP turns right around and basically says. 'Shame I can't download them.' Well thank goodness I am smart enough to understand that going to the location I was told, I was able to retrieve the actual steam cloud save files.I know that some games will ask if you want the old or the new in the steam cloud, though not all games do it. The current game I am trying to fiddle with doesn't do that, it will just use the steam cloud save if steam cloud is turned on, despite any old/new files are in the actual game save location.

I had the same question a long time ago as well. It seems like steam really doesn't want you to 'save' the games liek you used to be able to do.

What I did though was, when I downloaded a new game, before I installed it through steam, I foudn where steam put the DL files, and copied those. Then when I built a new PC, I put those files back into the steam folder, and I only had to DL a few things, not the whole game again.It is stupid though that they make re-download the whole thing again.

Why not just let you save a hard copy and just re-initalize it through steam. That will still keep people from pirating it seeing how you need to run those games through Steam, and you should just re-enter your CD key or something similar.
